PM Modi Apologizes For Harsh Steps

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on ‘Mann Ki Baat’, on Sunday, publicly apologized for the difficulties caused by his “harsh steps” to contain the novel coronavirus.
“I apologize for taking these harsh steps that have caused difficulties in your lives, especially the poor people,” Modi said while addressing ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
He also spoke to people who had suffered from the virus attack and had recovered. He asked them to take their stories forward. He spoke to doctors and asked them how they were dealing with the attack.
Millions of migrant and daily wage workers from across big cities have been walking back to their villages after hearing the news of lockdown on 24 March. Be it any worker from health and hospital staff to travel and tourism, lockdown norms have put severe anxiety and tension in them.
“I seek forgiveness… I am sure you will forgive me that you had to undergo so much trouble. Some people will say what kind of prime minister is this but these are special circumstances. You had to undergo problems I understand but there is no other way out to fight the coronavirus,” he said. “But this is a battle for life and death.”
This is the first time Modi has spoken on Mann Ki Baat after complete country lockdown.
