PM Modi Asked To Name A Better-Performing State Than Telangana.
Even though Telangana has made significant progress in various areas over the past nine years, anger remains over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's accusations of corruption and dynastic politics in the State while remaining silent in his party.
KT Rama Rao, minister of industries and president of the BRS, fired back at Modi with a stinging retort, pointing out how Telangana leads the country and daring Modi to name a single state that has done better in the last decade.
Minister Rao took strong exception to the Prime Minister's failure to recognise the State government's achievements and instead accused the State of non-cooperation, citing Telangana's staggering 155 percent per capita growth as evidence. In 2022-2023, the per capita income was Rs. 3.17 million, up from Rs. 1.24 million in 2014-2015.
Telangana has the best rural development model in India, with 100% ODF plus villages, and it was the first State to provide drinking water to all residents. The State also created more IT jobs than any other in India and was the second-highest paddy producer in the country.
Telangana ranks highest in India regarding per-capita electricity consumption and is one of the top three states for ease of business. In addition to being India's second-largest producer of renewable energy, it also had one of the lowest Debt-GSDP ratios and, according to a CSDS survey, the lowest levels of corruption in the country. In addition to being known as the "Vaccine Hub of the World," Hyderabad, the country's capital, has been named the "Best Indian City" by Mercer for the past five years running (beginning in 2015).
