PM Modi Awarded ‘Global Goalkeeper Award’!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded ‘Global Goalkeeper Award’ by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for Government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The WHO (World Health Organisation) has also acknowledged and appreciated the Modi government’s efforts in keeping India clean.
Prime Minister took to his Twitter handle and dedicated this award to the people of India. He told that this is the result of collective endeavors of 130 crore Indians, who transformed Swachh Bharat Abhiyan into ‘People’s Movement’. He also expressed his happiness that this success has helped women and children the most.
I dedicate the Global Goalkeeper Award, conferred by the @gatesfoundation, to the 130 crore people of India and the collective endeavours of our nation to improve cleanliness.

Prime Minister said, “No such campaign was seen or heard about in any other country in the recent past. It might have been launched by our government, but people took control of it.”As a part of this initiative, as many as 11 crore toilets were built in the last five years. Many daughters of India dropped out of school due to lack of toilets, but the scenario is changing now.
PM is also gratified that he got the award in the year where the nation will celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He told, “Gandhiji used to say a village could only become a model when it was completely clean. Today we are heading towards making the entire country a model."

As reported by Bill And Melinda Foundation, the improvement in rural sanitization has improved Body Mass Index (BMI) in women and decreased heart ailments among children.
