PM Modi Oath Taking Ceremony Live Updates: Modi to be Sworn in for Historic Third Term

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, is set to form the government at the Centre for the third consecutive term on Sunday, June 9. Modi will take the oath as Prime Minister at 7:15 pm, marking a historic event as he becomes the only leader after former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected for a third consecutive term after completing the full tenure of each previous term.
Council of Ministers to be Sworn In In addition to Narendra Modi, members of his council of ministers will also be sworn in. Posters featuring PM-designate Narendra Modi have been displayed throughout Delhi. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has arrived in New Delhi to attend the ceremony.
Traffic and Security Arrangements The Delhi Police have deployed approximately 1,100 traffic police personnel and issued a public advisory regarding traffic movement and route arrangements for the delegates attending the ceremony. Security has been beefed up in parts of New Delhi, involving paramilitary personnel, NSG commandos, and snipers, with drone cameras also deployed around Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Regional Leaders and International Guests Several leaders and state heads from the neighbourhood region and the Indian Ocean region have been invited as distinguished guests, including Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.
High Tea with Future Ministers Ahead of the ceremony, Narendra Modi hosted a traditional high tea at his residence for newly elected MPs likely to be inducted into his cabinet. Attendees included BJP leaders Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, and S Jaishankar, among others.
Inclusivity Emphasis About 50 members from the transgender community have been invited to attend the ceremony to bless the new government, reflecting Modi's call for 'sabka saath sabka vishwas and sabka prayas.'
