PM Modi underlines response to terror in show of strength

During a surprise visit to Punjab’s Adampur airbase on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a strong message against terrorism, stating that India’s response to any future attack will be decisive, fierce, and on its own terms. Standing in front of an S-400 missile launcher, Modi lauded the armed forces for their united and effective response during Operation Sindoor, the four-day conflict with Pakistan from May 7 to 10.

Addressing air force personnel, Modi declared, “India’s Lakshman Rekha against terrorism is now crystal clear.” He added that India would strike back in its own way, and that those orchestrating terror from across the border now fully understood the cost of attacking India. His remarks also served as a rebuttal to Pakistan’s disinformation campaign, which falsely claimed strikes on Indian airbases, including Adampur.

The visit was strategically significant, aimed at disproving Pakistan’s allegations of destroying Indian air defence assets, including the S-400 system. Imagery from the base showed Modi interacting with airmen against a backdrop of an intact runway and a MiG-29 fighter jet—disproving Pakistani claims of damage.

Modi praised the “jointness” of India’s armed forces during the operation and said the courage shown by soldiers would inspire future generations. Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation to a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26, triggering fears of escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

The conflict concluded after a mutual agreement to cease hostilities. Modi’s visit to the frontlines reinforced India’s commitment to national security and exposed Pakistan’s propaganda, while also publicly showcasing the operational readiness of the Indian Air Force.
