PM’s Independence Day Speech Highlights
India celebrated its 73rd Independence Day yesterday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from Red Fort on this glorious day. The Prime Minister hoisted the Tricolour at 7.30 AM. In his first I-Day speech, after Lok Sabha elections, he spoke about issues like Article 370, Article 35A, criminalizing triple talaq, welfare schemes for the farmers and announced the launch of a new Jal Jeevan Mission to provide potable water.
He greeted the nation of Raksha Bandhan. He expressed his grieve over many flood inflicted areas in the country and told that the nation stands in solidarity with them. He expressed his wish with certainty, that India will become a $5 Trillion economy in the next five years. He also said that people creating wealth for our nation should be respected.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of water conservation and told that a ministry for Jal Shakti is formed. He then told that people now believe in ‘One Nation, One Constitution’. Modiji then talked about population explosion and urged all the Indians to think seriously on this matter before giving birth to a child.
He informed that a total of ₹100 lakh crore will be allotted for new infrastructure in the country. Another important decision is taken, as told by PM, is to create Chief of Defence Staff position. He said, “On October 2, let us pledge to make the country free of single-use plastic. On Diwali let us gift people cloth bags instead of plastics. That will be an advertisement for your company as well,".
The prime minister also talked about creating 100 tourist destinations in the country. He recounted the efforts taken by the current government in various areas in the past five years and then in the past 10 weeks after coming to power again.
