Pahlaj Nihalani Denies Govinda-Sunita Divorce Rumours: ‘They Will Never Separate’

Veteran filmmaker and former CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani has strongly dismissed the rumours surrounding actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja’s alleged separation. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Nihalani insisted that he has always known the couple to be inseparable, describing them as “friends who work and live as a unit.”

The speculation began after Sunita reportedly criticised Govinda’s association with astrologers, claiming it negatively impacted his career. Surprisingly, Nihalani agreed with her view, saying, “What she said is correct. Astrologers did create problems in his career.” However, he emphasised that despite such challenges, the bond between Govinda and Sunita remains strong. He bluntly stated, “They will never separate. I have never seen them apart, whether as family or as work partners.”

Nihalani also recalled the secrecy surrounding Govinda and Sunita’s marriage in the 1980s. “I didn’t even know when he got married. He tied the knot in 1986, but he never shared it with anyone. We only met on sets,” he said, highlighting Govinda’s private nature.

The divorce rumours have circulated widely, but the couple’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, also rejected the claims in an earlier interview, affirming her parents’ unity. She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and concern from fans.

Govinda, one of Bollywood’s most loved entertainers, has had his share of ups and downs professionally. However, his marriage with Sunita has consistently been seen as a source of strength. Nihalani’s remarks, combined with Tina’s reassurance, put to rest speculations about discord. Instead, they reinforce the image of a couple who, despite personal and professional struggles, remain committed to each other.
