Pawan Kalyan Accepts Karthi's Apology Over Tirupati Laddu Remarks, Extends Best Wishes for 'Meiyazhagan'
The recent controversy surrounding Tamil actor Karthi's remarks about the Tirupati laddu incident has come to a peaceful resolution, with Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan accepting the actor's apology. Pawan Kalyan not only accepted the apology but also extended his best wishes for Karthi’s upcoming film Meiyazhagan, which is produced by his brother Suriya.
Karthi and Suriya both expressed their gratitude for the minister’s understanding and support. Responding to Karthi’s apology, Pawan Kalyan took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote: "Dear @Karthi_Offl garu, I sincerely appreciate your kind gesture and swift response, as well as the respect you’ve shown towards our shared traditions. Matters concerning sacred institutions like Tirupati and its prasadam laddus hold deep emotional significance for millions of devotees, and it’s important for all of us to handle such topics carefully."
He added, "I wanted to bring this to your notice without any ill intent, and I understand your comment was unintentional. As public figures, we have a responsibility to promote unity and respect, especially for what we hold dear—our culture and spiritual values. Let’s continue to uplift these values while also inspiring through cinema. I admire your dedication and talent as an actor, which has enriched our film industry."
Pawan Kalyan concluded by extending his wishes to the entire Meiyazhagan team: "Wishing you, @Suriya_offl garu, #Jyotika garu, and everyone at @2D_ENTPVTLTD a successful release of #Meiyazhagan / #SathyamSundaram. May it resonate with audiences and bring joy to many."
Both Karthi and Suriya responded warmly to the post, with Suriya writing, "Thank you for your heartfelt wishes, sir!" and Karthi adding, "Thank you for your kind wishes, dear sir!"
For context, Karthi’s comment that sparked the controversy occurred during a pre-release event for Sathyam Sundaram (the Telugu title for Meiyazhagan) in Hyderabad on September 23. When the event's anchor showed a meme about laddus, Karthi lightheartedly remarked, "Ippudu laddu gurinchi maatladakodadu (we shouldn’t talk about laddus now), it’s a sensitive topic."
This comment did not sit well with Pawan Kalyan, who later expressed during a media event that film industry members should either support sacred issues or refrain from making comments altogether.
With Meiyazhagan set to hit theatres on September 27, the situation has been amicably resolved, allowing both Karthi and his team to focus on the film's release
