Pawan Kalyan Praises Vijay's Move, Calling it a "Commitment to Serve the People"

In a spirited display of camaraderie, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan extended his heartfelt congratulations to Tamil superstar Vijay as the latter embarks on a new political journey. Kalyan tweeted, “My heartfelt congratulations!! to Thiru @actorvijay avl (sic), for embarking on a political journey in Tamil Nadu, the land of Saints & Siddhars,” recognizing Vijay’s venture following his debut political rally in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu.
This gesture from the Jana Sena Party chief mirrors the congratulatory note Vijay had sent to Kalyan earlier this year, celebrating his win in the Pithapuram constituency during the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections. Kalyan has since played an instrumental role in the coalition government alongside N. Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party and the BJP.
Known to fans as Thalapathy, the dynamic 50-year-old Vijay made his first political move under the banner of his newly founded Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). Eight months after launching his party, Vijay’s debut speech was a powerful critique of Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, taking sharp aim at both the ruling DMK and the BJP, albeit without direct names.
In his address, Vijay accused the DMK of corruption, alleging that a single family has been exploiting Tamil Nadu’s people through undisclosed deals. He further criticized the BJP’s influence, stating, "There is one group that has been singing the same tune here. They try to paint the same color (saffron) on anyone new who enters politics... But they have underground dealings." He went on to challenge both parties on issues of division and fear-mongering, boldly questioning, "If you accuse them of fascism, then are you 'payasam' (sweet dish)?"
The DMK, headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin, has denied all accusations, claiming there is no evidence supporting the alleged corruption within their ranks.
At TVK’s first public rally in Vikravandi, Vijay shared the core values of his party, which he says are inspired by Tamil Nadu’s champions of social justice, including icons like EVR Periyar and K Kamaraj.
