Pawan Kalyan Raises Concern Over Santal Conference After President Murmu’s Remarks
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor-politician Pawan Kalyan has expressed concern over issues reported during the International Santal Conference in Darjeeling following remarks made by Droupadi Murmu. The conference was organised to celebrate the rich heritage and traditions of the Santhal tribal community, but reports of difficulties faced by community members during the event have drawn criticism and concern.
Taking to social media on Sunday morning, Pawan Kalyan said he was saddened by the developments surrounding the conference. He emphasised that events organised to celebrate tribal heritage must be conducted with utmost respect, inclusiveness and proper planning. According to him, such gatherings should ensure that the voices, traditions and participation of the tribal communities remain at the centre of the event.
Referring to the President’s observations, the Jana Sena Party chief stated that it was unfortunate if members of the Santhal community themselves faced obstacles in attending a conference meant to honour their culture. He stressed that organisers must be sensitive to the needs of indigenous communities and ensure that cultural celebrations genuinely represent their identity and traditions.
Pawan Kalyan also highlighted the importance of maintaining proper protocol when the President of India attends an event. He noted that the office of the President carries the highest constitutional dignity in the country and it is the responsibility of the concerned administration to ensure that such visits are conducted smoothly and respectfully.
The deputy chief minister further underlined the crucial role played by tribal communities in shaping India’s cultural identity. He said their heritage, traditions and voices must always be honoured with sincerity and respect.
Concluding his remarks, Pawan Kalyan reiterated that cultural conferences celebrating tribal communities should reflect genuine appreciation for their heritage while ensuring meaningful participation from the communities themselves.
