Petition In Telangana HC Against Release Of RGV's 'Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu’

A petition has been filed against Ram Gopal Verma's next film Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu before the Telangana High Court. The petitioner asked the court to direct the Censor Board to turn down certification for the film and stop its release in cinema theatres, YouTube or social media in Telangana.

Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu (KRKR) released amid many controversies in both the Telugu states. The film exhibits NTR's relationship with his second wife Lakshmi Parvathy and also portrayed ex-Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu in a negative light.

In the recently released trailer of Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu, Malayalam actor Ajmal Amir plays the role of Jagan Mohan Reddy. RGV has cast many look-alikes of Andhra politics, including Praja Shanti Party's leader KA Paul, Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh. Similar to Lakshmi's NTR, the movie casts Chandrababu Naidu as the villain. The title of the movie also borders on the names of the caste groups of the TDP and YSR parties in the Telugu states.

Raising concerns, city resident Indrasena Chowdary filed a petition stating that the movie has been made against the Principles for Guidance in Certifying Films under Clause 5-B of the Cinematograph Act and also violates Article 19 of the Indian Constitution.

Chowdary also pointed out that the lyrics of the recently released song 'Pappu Lanti Abbayi’ whose trailer too got widely circulated in the social media are malign towards TDP and its leader Chandrababu Naidu.

This isn't the first time that RGV has faced problems over the release of his film. In April this year, he was detained at the airport of Vijayawada after he announced that he would hold a press conference "in the middle of the road" for his movie Lakshmi's NTR.
