Political Upheaval: Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu Set to Join TDP, Deals Blow to YSRCP
In a significant political development, Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu is poised to switch his allegiance from the ruling YSRCP to the TDP, dealing a considerable blow to the current regime. Reports suggest that the MP recently met with TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh, signaling his imminent formal induction into the Chandrababu Naidu-led party on January 22.
The impending move has created turmoil within the YSRCP, especially considering the recent confusion surrounding Lavu's candidacy in the Narasaraopet parliament seat. Lavu disclosed that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had proposed he contest from the Guntur parliament seat, a proposition he politely declined. Lavu cited his four-year commitment to Narasaraopet and pending developmental work as the reasons for opting to seek re-election from that constituency.
However, Lavu's public comments about his interaction with CM Jagan during an internal meeting have reportedly irked the YSRCP leadership, leading to internal discord. The repercussions of Lavu's actions have already been witnessed with Ambati Rayudu, an aspirant for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat from YCP, abruptly quitting the party within a week of joining.
This move follows a series of resignations within the YSRCP, including those of Machilipatnam MP Balashowry and Kurnool MP Sanjeev Kumar. Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasula Reddy is reportedly in talks with the TDP, further complicating matters for the ruling party. The exodus of MPs and MLAs is viewed as a significant setback for Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and his political circle, hinting at a potential realignment of political forces in the region.
