Prabhas Miss The Golden Opportunity

Renowned Indo-Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta is popular for making movies that get due international acclaim as the unconventional subjects she chooses tells us how she wants the unheard voices heard.
Her ‘Funny Boy’ is all set to premiere on Netflix, the movie that was an Oscar Entry and critically acclaimed. Funny Boy, an adaptation of Sri Lankan-Canadian author Shyam Selvadurai’s 1994 book of the same title, is a coming-of-age story of Arjun Chelvaratnam, or `Arjie’, a young Tamil boy in Sri Lanka, struggling to embrace his homosexuality in the folds of a loving heteronormative family and a world marked by entrenched prejudices.
Did our Prabhas miss a chance to feature in this movie? Going by the account of director Deepa Mehta looks like, he has. She wanted to cast South Indian actors, she tried to call the Baahubali several times. There was no answer to the call and hence, she dropped the idea altogether.
Finally, the female director got Srilankan actors on board for crucial roles. Deepa Mehta also tried to get onboard R Madhavan and actor ‘Bommarillu’ Siddharth to play the lead. However, all of her attempts were vain.
