Prime Minister To Witness Chandrayaan 2 Landing On Moon Tonight!

If all goes well, Chandrayaan 2 will make a soft landing on the surface of the moon tonight. The lander named Vikram will decide on the exact landing time when it would reach 100 meters above the surface of the moon. The expected time is around 1.30 AM to 2.30 AM on Saturday.
When Vikram will be about 100 meters above the surface of the moon, it will take around seventy-eight seconds to touch the surface, near the south pole of the moon. There are two landing sites on the moon that ISRO has chosen – a primary and a secondary. Primary again has two landing zones. One of the ISRO scientists told, “Vikram will be selecting one of the landing zones at the primary site after analyzing data at that moment”.
After touching down, the wheeled Pragyan rover will move on the surface of the moon. It will perform chemical analysis for fourteen days and will rely data to Earth.
This is India’s second expedition mission to moon after Chandrayaan I, which was launched in 2008. After the successful landing, India will become the fourth nation to achieve a soft landing on Moon, after Russia, USA and China. India will also become the first nation to reach close to the south pole of the moon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Bengaluru to witness the historic landing from space agency’s control room.
