Rahul Dravid signs a new deal to stay as head coach of Team India.
Indian men's cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid and his staff were given new contracts by the BCCI. Dravid's two-year deal ended when the Cricket World Cup 2023 ended. India made it to the final, but lost to Australia in the title match. The former captain of India allegedly had several job offers from Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, but he chose to stay on as head coach of the men's national team. The tour of South Africa will be his first job after his contract is renewed.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement, "The Head Coach Mr. Rahul Dravid and the Support Staff of Team India (Senior Men) have been given longer contracts." Unfortunately, Mr. Rahul Dravid's contract ended after the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. The BCCI had some good talks with him and agreed unanimously to extend his term.
The Board recognises Mr. Dravid's important part in shaping the Indian Team and praises his high level of skill. The Board also wants to thank Mr. VVS Laxman for the great work he did as Head of NCA and as the stand-in Head Coach. Like their famous teams on the pitch, Mr. Dravid and Mr. Laxman have worked together to move Indian Cricket forward.
