Rashmika Mandanna's Female-Centric Project Faces Uncertainty

While Bollywood has seen successful movies with strong female leads like "Gangubai Kathiawadi" and "Manikarnika," the same trend hasn't translated well in South Indian cinema, particularly in Tamil Nadu. Despite high expectations, films like "Thalaivi," the biopic of the revered leader Jayalalitha, failed to make a mark at the box office.
Recently, speculations arose regarding the fate of a Tamil film titled "Rainbow," starring Rashmika Mandanna, which was reportedly shelved after shooting some scenes due to bleak prospects.
However, Mandanna has swiftly shifted her focus to a Telugu project titled "The Girlfriend," which promises to highlight strong female characters. Unlike Tamil cinema, where female-centric films have struggled, Telugu cinema has embraced them, as demonstrated by successes like "Mahanati" and "Baby." Mandanna is also busy with the highly anticipated film "Pushpa-The Rule" and is rumored to be in talks to collaborate with Prabhas on a big-budget project directed by Sandeep Vanga. Additionally, she is set to star alongside Tamil star Dhanush in a film directed by renowned Telugu filmmaker Sekhar Kammula.
