Raveena Tandon Supports Air India Amid Crash Tragedy

Amid the shockwaves caused by the tragic crash of Air India’s London-bound flight AI171, actor Raveena Tandon has expressed solidarity with the airline and its crew. On June 16, she shared her emotional experience flying with Air India soon after the devastating accident, which killed 270 people, including 241 passengers and crew, and 29 individuals in a hostel building the plane crashed into.
In her heartfelt Instagram post, Raveena described the flight as solemn, with silent passengers and visibly affected crew members. "The crew’s smiles were tinted with sadness, and their pain was evident even without words," she wrote. She praised their strength and resilience in continuing to serve despite the emotional toll.
The crash, which occurred on June 12 shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, was one of India’s worst aviation disasters. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into a medical college hostel, killing everyone onboard except one survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, who escaped with minor injuries. Among the deceased was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
Air India, under the Tata Group, has announced ₹1 crore in compensation for victims’ families and ₹25 lakh as interim relief. The crash has sparked debates around airline safety, pilot training, and maintenance protocols.
Comedian Vir Das also came forward to support the airline crew, calling them the “best in the sky” despite systemic issues. His statement emphasized the emotional strain on crew members following such a catastrophe.
Raveena’s public show of support aims to help rebuild trust in Air India and encourage empathy for its employees, many of whom lost colleagues and friends in the crash. The nation continues to mourn, while investigations into the cause of the accident remain underway.
