Reason Why KCR Skip The 'NITI' Aayog Meet

Telangana Govt has decided not to attend the 7th Governing Council meeting of the NITI Aayog. Announcing this, CM K Chandrashekar Rao said that though NITI, Aayog is considered the government's apex policy think tank. But these meetings have lost their relevance.
He said CM are hardly given a few minutes to express their views which are not considered, and one must sit for 4 hours.
States are not treated equally by the Central Government. Furthermore, the agenda of the NITI Aayog meeting is not finalized with the involvement of the states. Hence, it serves no purpose to attend such meetings, KCR said.
This will be the first in-person meeting of the council after July 2019, and all chief ministers will attend. In a press conference, KCR explained that he was not against Modi personally, but it was his policies that the TRS opposed. NITI Aayog, he said, neither has powers nor can it influence the Centre.
According to KCR, the Union government's economic policies harm the interests of states. Sanctions have been imposed on borrowings and the FRBM limit has been reduced. In contrast to TS's request for permission to borrow Rs 54,000 crore, the Centre approved Rs 39,000 crore.
