Retired Judge Appointed as Election Commissioner

The YSRCP government has appointed Madras High Court retired judge Kanagaraj as the Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, after terminating Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar from the post. Kanakaraj has taken charge on Saturday. The YSRCP government brought an ordinance to reduce the time of election commissioners from five years to three years.
Initially, Rama Sundar Reddy was considered, but suddenly, AP Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan approved Kanakaraj. Nimmagadda had postponed the local body elections, which were supposed to be held in February last week and the March first week. As the Coronavirus has entered into the world already, Nimmagadda took the decision as the precautionary measure.
Jagan had become furious with now terminated Nimmagadda. There is also a talk that everything was planned. Being the CM of the state, Jagan should be responsible and accept the postponement of the elections, keeping the risk in mind. But, it seems Jagan has no business with the lives of the people.
Also, he recently said that there is no need for lockdown extension. Needless to say, Jagan wants to conduct the elections after April 14 and so he doesn’t want to extend the lockdown. While every other political party, celebrities, and people are asking to extend the lockdown, Jagan’s opinion came as a shock to many.
