Story
After the latter's son abducts the former's daughter who is ready to get married, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh declares war on the chief minister of Telangana. Ram becomes entangled in this as a result and finds himself in the thick of a hot political conflict. Throughout, he develops feelings for Sree Leela, and their interactions with the political discussions intertwine. How does this power battle impact the love story between the leads? Will Ram be able to take advantage of this tricky setup to achieve what he wants?
On-screen performances?
Since Ismart Shankar, Ram has given mass-market films his all. H conceived Skanda after placing his trust in Boyapati Sreenu. In the movie, he did indeed flaunt a popular appearance. He looks good in the common dress and presentation, and he makes an attempt to fit in.
In this tough job, he looks pretty well. Sree Leela gives a good performance and has a lovely appearance. She excels in the dance portions, as would be expected. Srikanth wins a substantial part and is back at it. Ram's father is portrayed by Tamil actor Raja, and he also performs a respectable job in the part.
Off-screen talents?
With Skanda, Boyapati Sreenu stays true to his mainstream genre. The establishment in the beginning of the movie is strong. But after that, the narrative becomes predictable and the situations become formulaic. Although the interval bang is loud, the general public may find it acceptable.
More large-scale battles and emotional situations occur in the second half. However, the over-the-top action and flat emotions are the problem. Long-lasting battles pepper the end, but they do get old after a while. However, Boyapati is able to nail a few big moments in each half. His characteristic mass high set-ups are scattered sparingly throughout both halves. The soundtrack for Thaman is unimpressive, featuring subpar tracks and an excessively loud BGM.
Although the cinematography is typical, the production values are high. The editing is inadequate. The final cut could have been a little bit crisper by removing a few sequences.
Positive Aspects
Ram’s Mass Makeover
A few mass moments
Negative Aspects
Over the top and lengthy action
Predictable narration
Tiring climax
Mediocre soundtrack
Overall Verdict:
When taken as a whole, Skanda is a lackluster movie because of the overlong, ridiculous action sequences that outweigh the film's high-energy moments. Although mass lovers may only wear this watch once, the others find it to be tiresome.
