Sardaar Ji 3 Team Defends Film Amid Hania Aamir Controversy, Stands with India

Amid growing calls for a boycott of Sardaar Ji 3 due to the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, the film’s makers have issued a statement defending their decision while expressing solidarity with India. The controversy erupted after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) accused the film's team of violating its ban on Pakistani artists, labeling Aamir as a "vocal propagandist" against India.
In an official statement released on social media, the team clarified that the film was shot well before the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. “It was never the case that any Pakistani artist was engaged after the attack,” the note emphasized. To show respect for national sentiment, the makers added that Sardaar Ji 3 will not be released or promoted in India for the time being.
The film stars Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role, and the controversy has put his team under intense scrutiny. FWICE has taken the matter to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as well as the CBFC, demanding a complete ban on the film’s certification and release.
The body has also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider revoking the Indian citizenship and passports of those involved in the project.
The makers’ defensive stance attempts to quell public outrage while highlighting that the film’s production timeline predates recent political tensions. Despite the assurance, the backlash remains strong, as many call for stricter enforcement of the ban and greater scrutiny in cross-border collaborations, especially during sensitive periods.
