Scindia Joins BJP And Gets Rajya Sabha Ticket

A day after resigning from the Congress, 4-time MP and former union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today joined the BJP in presence of party chief JP Nadda.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Scindia hailed PM Narendra Modi's leadership and said the country's future is secure in his hands. Talking about his decades-old association with the Congress, Scindia said he was hurt and distressed as he was not being able to serve the people in that party.
"I would like to thank BJP chief Nadda, Prime Minister Modi and home minister Amit Shah for inviting me into the BJP family," he said, adding that they had given him a platform to serve the people.
Attacking the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, he said the dream, which he along with his former colleagues saw for Madhya Pradesh, has been shattered in 18 months.
Minutes after the press conference, the BJP announced that Scindia along with Harsh Chauhan of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram will be its two nominees for the Rajya Sabha polls from Madhya Pradesh.
According to sources, the BJP is also confident of forming the government in the state with his help as 22 MLAs including Scindia's supporters have resigned from the state assembly reducing the Kamal Nath government to a minority.
According to sources in the BJP, Shah played a pivotal role in Scindia’s departure from Congress. Shah, who handed over party’s reins to Nadda earlier this year, has been in discussions with Scindia, who was miffed with the Congress leadership for sidelining him. While Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan was tasked with conducting negotiations, Narendra Singh Tomar was put in charge of mustering the numbers to topple the Kamal Nath government.
