Security Breach Mars Parliament Attack Anniversary: Intruders Disrupt Lok Sabha with Gas-Spraying Incident
On the solemn 22nd anniversary of the Parliament attack, a shocking security breach unfolded in the Lok Sabha. Two audacious intruders jumped from the visitors' gallery into the chamber, sparking chaos. The Lok Sabha proceedings were swiftly suspended as MPs evacuated the premises.
The individuals, clad in blue jackets, caused a stir within the House as they moved about without restraint. Quick-thinking MPs and security personnel swiftly detained them, leading to immediate interrogation.
Alarming reports emerged as MPs exited the Lok Sabha. Witnesses recounted that the intruders were seen spraying an unidentified gas. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram revealed that the men, aged around 20, carried canisters emitting yellow smoke. "This is a grave security breach, occurring on December 13th, the somber anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack," Chidambaram emphasized.
This incident underscores a glaring security lapse, despite guards present in the visitors' gallery. Concerns were raised about the lack of identification tags for visitors, underscoring the need for enhanced vigilance.
Trinamool leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay described it as a "terrible experience," emphasizing the gravity of the situation. Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury echoed these sentiments, highlighting the breach on a day dedicated to honoring the sacrifices made during the 2001 Parliament attack.
This breach serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing need for robust security measures in vital institutions such as the Lok Sabha.
