Shabana Azmi’s Accident Takes New Turn!

Veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi was seriously injured in an accident at Mumbai-Pune expressway. The accident took place on Saturday afternoon in Maharashtra's Raigad district. The car in which she was traveling rammed into a truck at 3.30 PM near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai. She was rushed immediately to MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and later shifted to multi-specialty Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai.

The incident has taken a new turn after a complaint given by truck driver Rajesh Pandurang Shinde as his vehicle was hit from behind by Shabana Azmi's car. "Due to rash driving by the car's driver, the car hit the moving truck on Pune-Mumbai Expressway which resulted in the accident," the FIR copy reads. Azmi's driver has been identified as Amlesh Yogendra Kamat.

According to doctors, she has suffered a head injury and also there was slight damage to the backbone. Her condition is stable now and is currently under medical observation. Her husband, lyricist Javed Akhtar, who was traveling with her in the car, has escaped with a minor injury. He said that Shabana is in ICU but all the reports were positive. Many politicians and celebrities have tweeted for her wellness.

"The news of @AzmiShabana Ji’s injury in an accident is distressing. I pray for her quick recovery," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted. On the other hand, noted writer Sanjukta Basu wrote, "Are we sure it was an accident?" which has created a new doubt in the minds of people.
