Shakuntalam To Be A Pan Indian project

It is known news that Samantha Akkineni has signed a mythology project titled Shakuntalam which will be directed by Gunasekhar of Rudhramadevi fame. On the eve of new year, the actress announced the film Shakuntalam with a teaser. In this upcoming movie, Samantha Akkineni will be seen playing the role of Shakuntala, who is one of the lead characters in Kalidasa’s epic Sanskrit story Abhijnana Shakuntalam.

Now as per the latest update, Shakunthalam is growing bigger as the film will be made as a pan Indian project. We are aware of the news that Samantha will make her Hindi debut with The Family Man series sharing the screen space with Manoj Bajpayee and Priyamani and seeing this, the makers of the film have decided to make their film a pan-India movie.

Shakuntalam is the story about the love story of King Dushyantha and Shakuntala, daughter of apsara Menaka and sage Vishwamitra. Eesha Rebba is also a part of this movie. Earlier many reports suggest that Gunasekar, who directed Anushka Shetty’s Rudhramadevi, had approached Pooja Hegde to essay the lead role. However, the actress rejected the offer saying that she does not want to essay a mother on screen when her career is flourishing.
