Sharing events to stories - Facebook adds a new option
Facebook continues to undergo the most controversial period in its history, as it is falling prey to many scandals related to data privacy, misinformation, and fake news, as well as larger issues around the social network’s corrosive role in democratic societies.
With the reputation of facebook continuously on a stake and with the increasing popularity of Instagram, the feature of Facebook which has still remained popular and pivotal is events. Events still make Facebook the best place to organize a calendar of social events, birthdays, concerts, and other real-world meetups, thanks to the existing social graph on Facebook and the fact that businesses and event organizers still largely treat it as the preeminent promotion platform
Facebook wants to make it easier for users to share events and coordinate with friends before an event starts. The company this morning said it will test a new feature that lets users share to their Story those events they’re interested in attending, then make plans to meet up with friends who also plan to attend.
The test will involve a new option to “Share to Your Story” that appears when you visit an event’s page on Facebook. If shared, friends will see a tappable sticker within your Story that includes the event details and lets friends respond that they’re also “interested” right from the Story itself.
Mainly targeted at young users this feature is available for all in the test market. The feature is being tested in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, but could eventually roll out more broadly.
