Sharmila encourages TJS chief Kodandaram to lead T-SAVE.
On Tuesday, Y.S. Sharmila, leader of the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP), met with Prof. M. Kodandaram, leader of the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), to ask him to head the proposed Telangana Students Action for Vacancies & Employment (T-SAVE), which would advocate for the rights of young people and the jobless.
Sharmila also contacted the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India (CPI-M) state secretaries, urging them to work together for the state's youth. Kodandaram said he is open to Sharmila leading T-SAVE, but the party must discuss the idea first.
He argued that unemployed people must work together to solve their problems but that the party's state committee would ultimately decide who would work with them and how the movement would advance.
According to the TJS chief, student unrest was sparked by the leak of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) papers. He claimed the BRS administration is gambling with students' lives.
Kodandaram claimed that the loss of two days' worth of Class 10 examination papers was further evidence of the government's carelessness.
Sharmila has stated that T-SAVE will serve as a common ground where all political parties in the state can come together to make a public pledge of support for the state's educated but unemployed youth.
She urged everyone to put aside their differences and come together as T-SAVE.
The leader of the YSRTP has called for a meeting with all interested parties on April 10 to discuss the next steps. Sharmila also contacted T. Veerabhadram, secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and K. Sambasiva Rao, secretary of the Communist Party of India, to invite them to the meeting.
