TDP Leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu Advocates for BC Enumeration in Andhra Pradesh
Former Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has called for the enumeration of individuals belonging to the Backward Classes (BCs) in Andhra Pradesh. Participating in a roundtable organized by the BC Cell of the Telugu Desam Party in Visakhapatnam, under the auspices of MLC Duvvarapu Rama Rao, Ramakrishnudu emphasized the majority presence of BCs in North Andhra.
With 139 castes in the BC community, many reliant on ancestral trades, he discussed their challenges and advocated for economic and social equality, political empowerment, and reservations in politics and legislative bodies. Ramakrishnudu announced plans for a census immediately upon the TDP assuming power in the state, and the roundtable explored the possibility of extending concessions to BCs in the budget during economic crises.
TDP district president Palla Srinivasa Rao accused the YSRCP government of land acquisition under the pretext of relocating the capital to Visakhapatnam, demanding the continuation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in the public sector. CPI leader Marupalli Pydiraju stated that the CPI would not support the TDP if it aligned with the BJP, and former Minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy also participated in the meeting.
