TSRTC Driver Attempts Suicide, Protests Intensified

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus driver on Saturday had attempted suicide by setting himself on a blaze, after Telangana Chief Minister KCR ordering 'self-dismissal' of the drivers who are on continuous strike from October 5th. The driver was taken to the hospital immediately and is being treated for his severe injuries. Srinivas Reddy went into depression after knowing the news and finally, attempted suicide. His son has also got injured while making an attempt to save his father.
After this, the protests were intensified in Khammam and RTC employees started breaking the glasses of other buses. One of the drivers tried to commit suicide by trying to burn himself. However, other RTC drivers stopped him from doing so. Police took the charge and tried to stop the protests. KCR ordered police to ensure the safety and secure environment at the place and asked to run private buses under police security.
Telangana Congress alleged that KCR is the reason for drivers committing suicide. "The driver won't even have money to buy clothes for the festival for his family as he didn't get the salary and he is the reason for the incident," said Gudur Narayan Reddy of Telangana Congress. "Instead of apologizing for his behavior, the chief minister shamelessly issued another statement today announcing that those who went to strike will not be taken back and their September salaries, too, would not be cleared," he said.
