Telangana: 5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Warangal, Kothagudem, and Khammam
A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Telangana on Wednesday morning at 7:27 AM, with its epicenter in Mulugu at a depth of 40 kilometers. The tremors were felt across multiple districts, including Warangal, Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam, Khammam, and nearby areas, lasting a few seconds.
The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) confirmed the earthquake, stating no immediate reports of casualties or significant property damage. However, the incident caused widespread panic, with residents fleeing their homes as a precaution. Minor tremors were also reported in BHEL, RC Puram, and Sangareddy town at around 7:30 AM.
Residents in areas such as Siddipet, Husnabad, and parts of Karimnagar experienced the tremors for about five seconds, with many observing household items shaking and running outside for safety. Similar reports came from Peddapalli, Manthani, Sultanabad, Odela, and other areas.
While there was no substantial damage, the earthquake sparked early morning discussions and highlighted the need for preparedness in a region witnessing frequent seismic activity.
