Telangana: CapitaLand announces to invest Rs 6,200 crore
CapitaLand will soon establish a 36 MW data center with Rs 1,200 crore in Telangana, continuing its good run as an investment magnet. With a potential investment of Rs 5,000 crore, the company also plans to double its office space in the city within the next 5-7 years. Data center and office space projects will cost Rs 6,200 in total, said IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao.
This big investment comes within 4 days after Amara Raja Batteries on December 2 announced to invest of about Rs 9,500 crore over 10 years in setting up a lithium cell Giga factory in the Mahbubnagar district.
The Government of Telangana entered into a MoU with CapitaLand India Trust Management, trustee-manager of CLINT (CapitaLand India Trust), for developing a data centre at CLINT’s ITPH (International Tech Park Hyderabad) at Madhapur.
CLINT will develop the data centre in about 2,50,000 sq ft with the latest cooling technologies and security. It will have a dedicated gas-insulated substation within site. In the region, it will be able to serve hyperscale players and large enterprises. In the next 3 to 5 years, about Rs 1,200 crore will be invested in this project.
“Happy to learn that CapitaLand will double its current office space of 6 million sq ft in Hyderabad over the next 5-7 years with a potential investment of over Rs 5,000 crore,” Rama Rao said.
“CapitaLand Group has built competencies in data centre design, development, and operations, with 25 data centres across Asia and Europe. We are excited to embark on our second data centre project in India. The project reinforces our commitment to becoming a strategic data centre operator in India,” said Patrick Boocock, CEO, of Private Equity Alternative Assets, Real Assets, and CapitaLand Investment.
