Telangana DGP CV Anand Reviews Hyderabad Murder Investigation
Senior Telangana Police officials visited the residence of retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Rai in Hyderabad following the shocking murder of his wife, Tanuja, at their home in Prashasan Nagar. The incident has triggered serious concern across Hyderabad and within police circles due to the brutal nature of the crime and the suspicion reportedly surrounding domestic staff connected to the household.
Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand visited the crime scene on Saturday and reviewed the progress of the investigation. During his visit, he instructed police teams to conduct a detailed and comprehensive inquiry into the murder and ensure that those responsible are identified and arrested quickly. He also stressed the importance of strengthening tenant and domestic servant verification systems in residential areas to help prevent similar crimes in the future.
In a social media statement, the DGP expressed concern over crimes allegedly involving Nepali domestic workers in several metropolitan cities. He stated that such incidents have reportedly become more common in cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Anand further claimed that Indian police teams often face challenges while tracking suspects who flee to Nepal after committing crimes, alleging limited cooperation from Nepal Police in certain cases.
The DGP urged citizens to thoroughly verify domestic workers through local police systems before employing them and emphasized the need for stronger background checks. His remarks have sparked broader discussions about urban safety, domestic worker regulation, and security awareness in residential communities.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar also visited the scene along with senior officers and reviewed the investigation. Police teams are currently analyzing CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and the movements of suspects linked to the case. Authorities are expected to strengthen awareness campaigns and verification drives across Hyderabad following the incident. The murder investigation remains active, with police intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals involved.
