Telangana DGP suspended for meeting Revanth Reddy
The Telangana state DGP, Anjani Kumar, has been suspended following instructions from the Central Election Commission. The Election Commission stated that the DGP-level officer had violated election rules, leading to his immediate suspension.
The Telangana police were taken aback by this development. During the announcement of the Telangana assembly election results, DGP Anjani Kumar visited Congress PC Chief Revanth Reddy at his residence and presented a bouquet, a move considered in violation of the Election Code still in force at that time.
The Election Commission deemed this act a breach of protocol and took serious action, suspending the top cop promptly. Anjani Kumar's meeting with Revanth Reddy, while Congress was leading, had gone viral, prompting swift action from the Election Commission. Previously, DGP Anjani Kumar, along with Sanjay Jain, State Police Nodal Officer, Telangana, and Mahesh Bhagwat, had met state Congress chief Revanth Reddy and presented a flower bouquet.
