Telangana Government Prepares to Unveil Additional Guarantees from Dec 28
Having successfully implemented two of the six guarantees pledged to the public, the State government is now gearing up to introduce several more assurances starting December 28, coinciding with the Congress party Formation Day.
Revealing these developments at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that the Congress government had already fulfilled two of the promised guarantees. He assured that all six guarantees would be enacted within 100 days, promising the establishment of "Indiramma Rajyam" (rule) in Telangana.
Earlier in the day, the Minister held a meeting with Union Minister of Roads Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Briefing about the meeting, he mentioned that the Union Minister responded positively to the proposal for constructing a bypass road around Nalgonda town, estimated to cost nearly Rs 600 crore. This expressway, similar to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) around Hyderabad, aims to divert traffic away from Nalgonda town towards Andhra Pradesh, reducing accidents caused by heavy traffic.
During the meeting, the State government appealed for approval of various works, particularly the upgrading of 14 roads and National Highways. The six-laning works on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway from LB Nagar to Malkapur have already been completed.
Addressing the issue of fund allocations, the Minister noted that Telangana received less funding compared to Andhra Pradesh from the Union Government. He emphasized the need for regular meetings with officials to address this discrepancy, and the Union Minister directed his officials to convene a meeting after 10 days to expedite the works.
Regarding the construction of a bridge across the River Krishna at Kalwakurthy, the Minister mentioned that road works were already in progress, with cable bridge construction being undertaken by the Union government.
On the topic of alleged irregularities in the ORR toll tax tenders, the Minister assured that the matter would be discussed in the cabinet. He emphasized the Congress's commitment to avoiding vendetta politics, stating that the focus is on delivering people's governance with results expected in six months.
The State government is also planning to construct a new Telangana Bhavan due to congestion and age-related issues with the existing structure. A meeting was conducted to discuss plans for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Bhavan, and decisions are expected soon, with the goal of commencing works in March and completing them within a year.
Expressing gratitude to the people of the Bhongir Parliamentary constituency, the Minister conveyed his indebtedness and formally tendered his resignation as Bhongir MP to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla earlier in the day.
