Telangana High Court Cancels OG’s Ticket Rate Hike Despite Government Order

The release of Pawan Kalyan’s highly anticipated action drama OG has hit a roadblock after the Telangana High Court suspended a government order permitting ticket price hikes. The film, directed by Sujeeth, is slated for release on September 25, with advance bookings already generating record demand.
The state government, under CM Revanth Reddy, had approved higher ticket rates exclusively for OG, fixing premiere prices at ₹800, and regular shows at ₹277 for single screens and ₹445 for multiplexes. However, activist Mahesh Yadav challenged the order, calling it discriminatory. The High Court sided with the petitioner, suspending the notification until the next hearing on October 9.
The decision has left both exhibitors and moviegoers in confusion. Thousands of tickets were already sold at the government-approved prices, raising questions about refunds or revised ticketing. Industry insiders fear temporary disruptions unless clear directives are issued.
Despite the legal hurdle, trade analysts expect OG to perform strongly, given the massive buzz around Pawan Kalyan’s comeback. Fans, though disappointed, continue to express excitement on social media. Whether the setback dampens box office numbers or fuels more curiosity will become clear on opening weekend.
