Telangana Polls: Congress Convinces Rebels to Withdraw
Congress high command is well-known for its effective management techniques and it got succeeded in sending out the rebels from contesting for the upcoming elections.
The high command, for the first time, sent its top leaders including Ahmed Patel, Jairam Ramesh, Veerappa Moily and Bose Raju from Delhi and D K Shiva Kumar from Karnataka, former Union ministers S Jaipal Reddy and T Subbarami Reddy to talk to rebel candidates to request them to withdraw from the contest.
On Wednesday night, the senior leaders went to the residences of former Serilingampalli MLA Bhikshpathi Yadav, Thotakura Jangaiah Yadav, Vajresh Yadav and Naini Rajender Reddy.
They also went to former Union minister Renuka Chowdary, who is creating problem, since the nomination process began. And now, all of them agreed to withdraw from the contest.
Earlier, they managed to convince former minister Sabita Indra Reddy’s son P Karthik Reddy and others to withdraw from the contest.
Only Ranga Reddy DCC president Kyama Mallesh was against the party and so suspended from his post. Now, he is likely to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
As these elections are prestigious for Congress, the party doesn’t want to take the chance right now. The party is not willing to lose a single winnable seat and so the rebels were promised to take as MLAs or give them party tickets for Lok Sabha elections.
Though everyone are ready to withdraw from the contest, Congress contestant Vaddiraju Ravichandra is not willing to withdraw his nomination as giving pressure to Congress high command to take out TJS candidate Gade Innayya from elections.
