Tested COVID positive in mid-flight; A teacher isolated in Bathroom.
After testing positive for COVID halfway through a flight from Chicago to Iceland, a US woman was quarantined for 3 hours in an airplane bathroom.
On December 19, Marisa Fotieo, a Michigan teacher, noticed her throat was sore halfway through the trip, so she went to the Bathroom to perform a rapid Covid test, which confirmed she had an infection.
Fotieo told the reputed media channel that she took two PCR tests and five rapid tests before the flight. All of them came back negative.
Fotieo has been fully vaccinated and received a booster. Since she works with an unvaccinated population, she tests consistently. As she got her results in the aeroplane bathroom, she started to panic over the Atlantic Ocean.
The flight attendant ran into helping her. The flight attendant said she did her best to rearrange seats so Fotieo could sit alone, but the plane was full.
"I opted to stay in the bathroom because I did not want to be around others on the flight," Fotieo said.
Once the plane touched down in Iceland, Fotieo and her family were the last ones off the flight.
The report added that she was shuttled to a hotel where she began her 10 days of quarantine.
