The BRS Effect: Demand for Rythu Bandhu grows stronger in Maharashtra
Every day, the effects of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi's move into the nearby state of Maharashtra become clearer, with more and more people calling for a Rythu Bandhu like the one in Telangana.
To stop the BRS, whose slogan "Ab ki Baar Kisan Sarkar" is already being used by farmers after only three public meetings held by Party President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Eknath Shinde government is now forced to give in to the demand for the Telangana Model in some way.
Farmers in trouble need Rythu Bandhu or something similar to help them out. This is being said by politicians, social activists, farmers' groups, and key people in the State government.
Sunil Kendrekar, a senior IAS officer and the Divisional Commissioner of Aurangabad, talked to the media on Tuesday and called for farmers to get financial help of Rs.10,000 per acre as they do in Telangana because this is an "urgent need." Kendrekar gave this idea to the Maharashtra government to stop the rising number of farmer suicides in the Marathwada area. His advice results from a thorough look at the situation in the area. The process to take stock that started a few months ago included almost 5 lakh farmer families.
