The College Admissions Scam, 33 Wealthy Parents Charged
It's been just over a month since prosecutors charged 50 people, including 33 parents of college-age students, of conspiring to use their wealth to game the college admissions system.
The cases of the 33 parents have sharply diverged since then.
Thirteen parents, including actors and actresses like Felicity Huffman, Robert Flaxman, Peter Jan Saritio, Marcia Abbot, Davina Isackson, and others have already agreed to plead guilty in the case.
In addition, one parent was charged by information with one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud, as well as one count of money laundering conspiracy and one count of conspiracy to defraud the IRS. He has agreed to plead guilty, Bruce Isackson.
Another 17 of the parents, including actors and actresses like Lori Laughlin and her husband, fashion designer Massimo Giannulli, Elisabeth Kimmel, John Wilson, Todd Blake, George Colburn, and some others are fighting charges of conspiracy to commit fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
These 17 parents were charged by indictment with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and honest services mail and wire fraud, as well as money laundering conspiracy. They have entered a not guilty plea.
