The Election Commission will declare the election schedule for Telangana and four other states on Monday

On Monday, the Election Commission of India will release the election schedule for the Assemblies of Telangana, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
According to a press release, the ECI will disclose the schedule at a press conference to be conducted at Akashwani in New Delhi at noon. If the announcement is not delayed, the five states, including Telangana, will most likely hold elections in early December.
In 2018, when the ECI announced the schedule for these five states on October 6th, the progression of events was remarkably similar. This time around, Rajasthan and Telangana conducted elections on December 7, while Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram held elections on November 28. In Chhattisgarh, elections were conducted in two phases. The first phase took place on November 12, and the second on November 20.
All states conducted their counting on December 11.
In the upcoming election in Telangana, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi will compete against the Congress and the BJP. Last time, BRS (then TRS) retained power with an overwhelming majority, having won 88 of 119 seats and receiving 47.4% of the vote. It had gained 25 constituencies since 2014, bringing its total to 63. Congress emerged in second place with only 19 members. It received a vote share of 28.7 percent. Following the elections, the BJP won only one seat in the Assembly.
In Madhya Pradesh, 230 Assembly constituencies will elect representatives. In the 2018 elections, the Congress won 114 seats with a 41.5% vote share, while the BJP finished second with 109 seats. Its vote percentage was 41.6%. However, in 2020, the Congress government lost the majority after the resignations of some MLAs belonging to a faction led by Jyotiraditya Scindia, who later joined the BJP. Shivraj Singh Chouhan was reinstated as chief minister after the BJP constituted the government in the state.
The Congress party controls a majority of the 200 seats in the Rajasthan Assembly, and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot leads the State government. Previous State assembly elections were conducted in December 2018, with the Indian National Congress emerging as the dominant party. Congress was able to gain 99 seats, falling one seat short of the majority threshold. Congress founded the State government with 39.8 percent of the vote after forming an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party and gaining the support of independent MLAs. The BJP was able to secure 73 seats and 39.3 percent of the vote.
In addition, the Congress won 68 out of 90 seats in Chhattisgarh. The party received 43.9 percent of the vote. The BJP was able to win 15 seats and garner 33.6% of the vote.
With 37.8 percent of the vote, the Mizo National Front won 26 seats in the 40-member Mizoram Assembly. Congress won five seats, while the BJP won one. Zoramthanga is the current leader of the nation.
