US Elections Begins, 100 Million Americans Cast Their Ballots
It’s the day for President Donald Trump and Democrat presidential Joe Biden as In-person voting commence in US today.
Nearly 100 million Americans had already cast ballots by Tuesday while 28.2 million mail ballots are yet to cast their vote. This is around 72.2 percent of the total votes counted in the 2016 presidential election. Voters were urged to vote through especially made mail-in ballots, to avoid queues amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Also on the campaign trail was former president Barack Obama. He campaigned for Biden in Georgia and Florida on Monday, US time, criticising Trump’s coronavirus response and attitude towards race issues.
For both President Donald Trump and his counterpart Joe Biden, states like Florida has been a major focus. If President Donald Trump doesn’t win Florida, he’s going to have a rough time capturing enough states to stay in office.
Joe Biden took all five votes cast in Dixille Notch, a small New Hampshire township along the US-Canada border that was among the first to vote in the election.
Meanwhile, Trump indicated that he would take legal action to stop the tabulation of ballots arriving after election day.
