US Student Visa: Shocking Fall in Approval Rates
Except for years affected by pandemics, the number of US student visas increased dramatically in 2022, marking the greatest yearly growth in almost a decade. Over 411,000 student visas were granted by the US Department of State during this time, a 15% increase from the prior year and the biggest number in six years.
Nevertheless, despite the increase in visa applications, the acceptance rate for F-1 visas fell from 80% in 2021 to only 65% in 2022, mostly as a result of dishonest business tactics by certain firms who are Desi in the USA.
India surpassed China as a possible top supplier of foreign students for the US in 2022 because to a stunning 43% rise in student visas awarded between 2021 and 2022.
Although the US student visa increase is encouraging, it still lags behind other destination countries with greater yearly growth rates, such as Canada and the UK.
Seven of the top eight countries displaying the biggest growth in student visas awarded from 2021 to 2022 were from Asia, which continues to contribute significantly to the growing number of US student visas.
