Veteran Actor Kader Khan Dies at 81
Veteran actor Kader Khan died in a hospital in Canada due to prolonged illness. He was 81 years old. Kader Khan’s son Sarfaraz told the news agency that “My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into a coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks.”
Sarfaraz also confirmed that the last rites will be performed in Canada. The 81-year-old actor was reportedly suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease that causes loss of balance, difficulty in walking and dementia.
On Friday, Kader Khan developed breathing issues and the doctors transferred him from a regular ventilator to BiPAP ventilator which involves the person breathing pressurized air through a mask attached to a small machine.
Born in Kabul, Afghanistan on October 22, Kader Khan was best known as an actor and a writer in numerous films. He has featured in over 300 films. He was also recognised by the AFMI (American Federation of Muslims from India) for his achievement and service to the Muslim community in India.
Amitabh Bachchan posted an old picture of him with Kader Khan and wrote, “PRAYERS and DUAS.”
