Vice President's Involvement in Illegal Sand Mining Draws Concern
Former minister Nakka Ananda Babu expressed his cooperation with the collectors regarding the investigation into the involvement of YSRCP leaders in illegal sand mining. Speaking to the media at the TDP office on Thursday, he questioned what actions the Chief Minister and district collectors would take on the report submitted by the Central Environmental Department about the illegal mining in Andhra Pradesh. He raised concerns about the reluctance of the officials to inspect the illegal sand mining sites in Bapatla and Gajuwaka regions. He further questioned why the authorities attacked the media instead of addressing the findings presented on illegal mining. With the Green Tribunal and the Central Environmental Departments denying permissions for sand mining activities, Babu cautioned the collectors against committing mistakes. He warned of repercussions for officials collaborating with those causing losses to the public and hinted at disciplinary action against mining department head Venkatareddy, currently associated with the ruling TDP.
Babu demanded transparency from every institution and emphasized fulfilling public expectations promptly amidst the upcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh. He stressed the need for immediate action to curb illegal mining and ensure accountability in governance. The community's trust in authorities could only be restored through decisive measures and genuine efforts to address environmental concerns. Babu's remarks underscored the urgency of addressing illegal activities and upholding ethical standards in public service.
