A mobile phone clip on Monday raised the questions over the movements of Electronic Voting Machines, which were being transported in private cars in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana.
The video re-enforced the concerns of oppositions about the voting machines when the results will be out on 23rd May Thursday. The video showed that the EMVs being loaded from the cars to counting centers. The supporters of the Samajwadi party candidate who filmed the video questioned why the machines were loaded a day after the polling and why not earlier.
The administration stated that the machines which were shown in the video were the 35 reserve machine, these machines were reached later to the storage room and the counting center because of logistical issues.
The BSP candidate held a sit-in outside the storage room of EMVs last night, which was ended after the returning officer of the district assured to the protesters that the arrangements were made to have a representative of each candidate at vantage points and ensured complete transparency.
