Vijay Deverakonda Booked Under SC/ST Act for Controversial Remarks

Actor Vijay Deverakonda has been booked under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after a complaint was filed alleging he made offensive comments about the tribal community. The incident reportedly occurred during the pre-release event of his film Retro in April.
The complaint, lodged by Saidabad resident Nenavath Ashok Kumar Naik, alleges that Deverakonda's remarks during the promotional event were derogatory toward Scheduled Tribes. Based on this complaint, Raidurgam police registered a case under relevant sections of the SC/ST Act, which deals with offenses against individuals from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
While the exact content of the controversial comments has not been made public, the case has already attracted attention on social media and in the entertainment industry. As of now, Deverakonda has not issued an official response regarding the allegations.
Police say an investigation is underway and further statements will be taken to determine whether the actor’s comments qualify as an offense under the stringent provisions of the SC/ST Act. If found guilty, Deverakonda could face serious legal consequences, including imprisonment.
This incident comes at a time when public figures are under increasing scrutiny for their statements in public forums. Advocates for tribal rights have welcomed the swift registration of the case, emphasizing the importance of accountability, especially from high-profile individuals.
Deverakonda, known for his outspoken personality and bold film choices, is now facing one of his most serious controversies. His legal team is expected to respond soon as the case progresses.
