Vijay Mallya spotted at World Cup Match in London
Indian businessman Vijay Mallya, who is accused of defrauding Indian banks for up to Rs 9,000 crore, was spotted at India-Australia second World Cup 2019 match.
"I am here to watch the game," Vijay Mallya said to the reporter. Vijay Mallya attends most cricket matches involving India in the UK.
He fled to the UK on March 2, 2016. An extradition request filed by India on Vijay Mallya had been recently approved by the UK court.
Earlier, a Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Mumbai had branded Vijay Mallya as the first fugitive economic offender. Later, an appeal was also filed by the Enforcement Directorate.
The UK High Court will hear Vijay Mallya's plea challenging his extradition order in July. Vijay Mallya said to the reported that he will attend the hearing in July.
