Vijayawada's Amaravati unit of the CBI opens
On November 22, a Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) marked the official opening of its new office located in the Central Government Offices (CGO) Complex in Auto Nagar, Vijayawada. The Amaravati unit, as per the notification, falls under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Zone.
Dignitaries present at the inaugural event included CBI Superintendent of Police (Visakhapatnam), Murali Rambha, CBI Joint Director Venu Gopal, and other esteemed officers. This marks a significant expansion as the Central Investigation Agency, formerly based in Visakhapatnam, will now operate from its new branch office in Vijayawada.
Previously situated near the Vijayawada train station, the CBI's relocation to the CGO Complex signifies a strategic move for operational efficiency. The dedicated personnel of the Amaravati Unit will be responsible for investigating the ACB case and handling various other CBI cases within the region."
