Warangal Will Be The New Hyderabad

Tech Mahindra and Cyient are all set to commence their operations to develop the IT sector in tier-II cities in Warangal, Telangana. KT Rama Rao, IT and Industries Minister will inaugurate the new campuses of the 2 companies at Manikonda IT Park tomorrow.

CM K Chandrashekhar Rao government is offering several incentives to encourage IT companies to set up their campuses in tier-2 cities in Telangana. The persistent efforts of the government to promote tier-II cities as IT investment destinations, after Hyderabad, made Tech Mahindra and Cyient come forward and establish their units in Warangal.

Tech Mahindra’s center will be housed in the recently constructed IT Towers at Manikonda IT Park. The IT giant came forward following a meeting of the minister with Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, and CP Gurnani, CEO and MD of Tech Mahindra, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos 2 years ago. The unit of Tech Mahindra will employ over 1,000 techies.

Cyient has been operating from the IT Park’s incubation center, offering jobs to around 100 techies. The new branch of the company is expected to accommodate over 1,000 employees. The 3-story building, with about 70,000 sq ft, was constructed at Rs 25 crore on a spreading 5-acre campus. 2 other blocks adjoining the building offer working space for 200 employees. The 100 software engineers working in the incubation center presently will be shifted to the new building after the inauguration.

Rama Rao expressed his happiness over the inauguration of the new campuses of Cyient and Tech Mahindra at Warangal. He tweeted that he was thrilled to inaugurate the Warangal campuses that he called just the foundation for Warangal and other tier-II cities in the State. He thanked Cyient executive chairman BVR Mohan Reddy and Tech Mahindra CEO and MD CP Gurnani for their support and encouragement to tier-II cities.

The government has been making continuous efforts to encourage tier-II cities, particularly Warangal, as next in Telangana after Hyderabad, to generate employment opportunities for software engineers. The State government has already sanctioned Rs 25 crore to establish IT Tower at Karimnagar and another IT Park of Rs 25 crore at Nizamabad is in the pipeline.
