When T Harish Rao Paid A Surprise Visit To A Zillaparishad School

It was a shock to everyone, including the teachers present there, when class 10th students could not tell the capital of their own country and couldn’t write their own names, during the surprise visit of Finance minister T. Harish Rao at the Zilla Parishad school in Kandi, on Saturday.
Harish, who made a surprise visit to the school, expressed deep disappointment and said it would be difficult for these students to survive in a competitive world with such poor skill base. He also inquired about the condition of mid-day meals in the school and focused his attention on the hygiene part too.
After the whole inquiry, the minister interacted with the students and told them to recite the table of 12, and it was a shock to everyone when students could not recite beyond 10. The minister rebuked the teachers over this and wondered how the students will compete in the outside world if they are not taught well.
He also asked students the basic general knowledge questions such as the capital of our country, of which many were aware of. Most of the students couldn’t even write their teacher's names in English, nor even in Telugu.
When he talked to the teachers, he got to know that the passing percentage of class 10 is 100 and said that they couldn't pass when their answer is incorrect. Teacher's associations say, there is a shortage of 20,000 teachers in total at various schools in the state. At last, he said that there is a need to have revolutionary reforms in the system of education.
